Chemical Peels in Colorado

Uncover Brighter, Smoother Skin with Facial Peels

Few treatments refresh the complexion quite like a professional-grade chemical peel, which works by triggering your skin’s natural healing process. As a facial peel clears dead cells from the surface, it improves your skin in a number of ways:

Smoothing texture

Evening out tone
Softening fine lines and wrinkles

Improving acne and acne scars

Fading age spots
Repairing sun damage
Correcting hyperpigmentation

Treating melasma

The face is the most common area for a peel, but it works just as well on the neck, chest, and backs of the hands. At Hollywood Body and Face, our skilled professionals build your treatment plan with you, keeping your skin goals front and center.

The Process of Chemical Peels and Their Benefits

During a chemical peel, an acidic solution is applied to the skin to lift away damaged outer layers, accelerate cell turnover, and encourage collagen growth, leaving behind a brighter, more even complexion.

Our patients appreciate that chemical peels:

  • Are safe and FDA-cleared

  • Promote rejuvenated, younger-looking skin

  • Stimulate cellular renewal

  • Reveal a fresh layer of healthy skin

  • Are fast and virtually painless

By creating a controlled injury at a precise depth, a chemical peel prompts new skin to develop, improving texture and bringing out a more radiant finish.

Types of Chemical Peels

Because they’re nonsurgical and performed on an outpatient basis, chemical peels let you get back to your usual routine the same day. To target different skin concerns, we offer several types of peels, including:

SkinMedica Peel

We carry three SkinMedica peels, chosen based on your specific skin concerns.

SkinMedica Illuminize Peel

A blend of salicylic, mastic, and malic acids gives this peel its punch, brightening the skin, bringing back a more youthful look, and refining both clarity and texture. Gentle in strength, it’s a great match for mild imperfections.

SkinMedica Revitalize Peel

Powered by lactic and salicylic acid, the Revitalize peel takes on mild to moderate concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation.

SkinMedica Rejuvenize Peel

This peel uses the same lactic and salicylic acid duo but reaches deeper, targeting moderate to severe imperfections. As our most powerful option, it produces standout results, which is why we suggest easing your skin up to this strength over time.

iS CLINICAL PEEL

The iS Clinical peel combines anti-inflammatory ingredients, fruit acid, and glycolic acid to improve the skin’s overall health and integrity. It works to:
  • Promote wound healing and collagen synthesis

  • Increase cellular turnover and smooth the skin

  • Allow deeper penetration of active ingredients

  • Encourage exfoliation of the top layer of skin

Gentle yet effective, it resurfaces the skin for fast, lasting results.

Jessner Facial Peel

The Jessner peel uses salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol to balance the skin, clear out pores, and calm inflammation. The number of layers applied determines the peel’s strength, so patients can choose their level of intensity:
  • 1 to 3 layers for a light peel

  • 4 to 6 layers for a medium peel

  • 7 to 8 layers for a deeper peel

This treatment improves overall texture and radiance while targeting acne, age spots, and melasma, each of which can contribute to hyperpigmentation.

What to Expect During Your Chemical Peel Experience

Your experience will vary a little from the next person’s, depending on the strength of your peel.

Step 1: Anesthesia and Skin Cleansing

For mild to medium peels, anesthesia usually isn’t needed, though you may feel some stinging or burning until the peel is neutralized. We keep you comfortable during treatment by chilling the skin with a small fan or the Zimmer skin-cooling system. Very deep peels are different, most patients will need local anesthesia, strong oral or IV sedation, and pain medication. To begin, your provider cleanses your skin to prepare it.

Step 2: Applying the Peel

Once your skin is cleansed and numbed (if needed), the peel solution goes on and stays in place anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the type and strength of the peel and how sensitive your skin is. You may notice mild to moderate itching, stinging, or burning while it’s on.

Final Steps

After the acid has finished working, your provider applies a cold gauze compress to neutralize it. Your skin is then cleansed thoroughly with cold water compresses, and moisturizer and sunscreen are applied to soothe and protect it.

Chemical Peel Recovery and Results

Light to medium peels call for just two to four days of recovery, during which your skin may look sunburned and feel dry and sensitive. Deeper peels take longer, about seven to 12 days of downtime, with lingering redness and flaking for up to three months. Recovery from deep phenol peels may also require prescription pain medication for the first week or two.

How much your skin visibly peels afterward isn’t a measure of how well the treatment worked. Resist picking at any peeling or flaking skin, and follow your provider’s aftercare instructions to lower the risk of infection or scarring.

When Do Chemical Peel Results Show?

You should start to see improvements in tone and texture as the post-peel symptoms fade. Your complexion keeps getting better over time as new collagen forms, with final results visible within about three months. Depending on the strength of your peel and your skincare habits, results can last anywhere from several months to 10 years.
